Greater Sudbury Police have an area on Allan Street in Coniston cordoned off this afternoon after being called to a residence there earlier today.

Police said in a tweet at 12:19 p.m. that they had received a report of a man in emotional distress at a home on Allan Street.

"The person who called had concerns for the person's well-being," police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn told Sudbury.com.

Once officers reached the scene to perform the welfare check, they waited for the Tactical Unit to arrive to contain the area, Dunn said.

When officers entered the building, the man was located. Police report that he was found deceased.

No foul play is suspected in the death, GSPS said, and there is no concern for public safety.

Police are asking members of the public to stay away from the area as the investigation is ongoing.
