Man killed in accident

Early Christmas evening a 49-year-old man from Webequie, Ontario was struck by a northbound vehicle while trying to cross Notre Dame Avenue in front of the inter-city bus depot.

Robert Spence was transported to the St. Joseph Health Centre where at last word he was listed in serious condition.

The investigation into the collision is continuing by members of the Greater Sudbury Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Witnesses are urged to contact local police at 675-9171 ext. 2209.

On Tuesday night an 83 year old man died after being struck by a westbound vehicle while trying to walk across Lasalle Boulevard at Northway Avenue near the Montrose Mall.

Police say the pedestrian was hit around 7 pm.

He was transported to the St. Joseph Health Centre where he succumbed to his injuries.

No name was released.

At press time the incident was still under investigation.
