Man leads police on wild chase

A disqualified driver who led Greater Sudbury Police on a high-speed chase Monday morning faces numerous charges, including impaired driving and dangerous driving. In the early morning hours Monday, officers were on routine patrol in Chelmsford.

In the early morning hours Monday, officers were on routine patrol in Chelmsford.

Around 1:30 am, attempts were made to stop a vehicle being operated by a lone male on Charlotte Street, when the suspect took off, eluding police and traveling at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle attempted to negotiate a turn on Main Street, but lost control and drove over a lawn in the area, causing minimal damage to the lawn.

The vehicle eventually stopped at a residence in Chelmsford after being followed by police less than a kilometre away.

John Cory O'Reilly, 35, of Chelmsford, now faces numerous charge as a result of this incident.

He's been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, criminal flight, impaired driving, failing to provide a breath sample, resisting arrest, two counts of driving while disqualified, breach of court orders, possession of a controlled substance, failing to stop for police, operating without insurance or a validation sticker and not having a registered licence plate.
