Man severely injured in taxicab incident

One man has been charged with aggravated assault after a 27-year-old man was beaten and stabbed in a taxicab on Monday night. The incident occured at around 10:30 pm in a City taxicab on The Kingsway near Levesque Street.

The incident occured at around 10:30 pm in a City taxicab on The Kingsway near Levesque Street.

The victim, who was not the driver of the cab, suffered serious facial injuries and lacerations to other parts of his body. He has been admitted to hospital with severe but non life-threatening injuries.

Lucien Depatie of Sudbury was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon. Other suspects remain at large.

Man charged with drug and weapons offences

Greater Sudbury police have charged a 34-year-old man with several drug and weapons charges after pulling over a vehicle in the Donovan area Monday night.

At around 11:30 pm, uniformed patrol officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

When searched, the driver was found to be in possession of a flick knife and small amounts of cocaine and ecstasy.

Norman Phillipe of no fixed address has been charged with possession over $1000, possession of a prohibited weapon possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

He will appear in bail court today (Tuesday).


Sudbury teen still missing

Fifteen-year-old Alida Mandeville of Sudbury has been missing since May 5. She disappeared following a dispute with her father.

She is believed to frequent the downtown core of Sudbury, and may be in the company of her boyfriend, 21-year-old Steve Remolo.

The girl is about five feet tall, 120 lbs., with long straight reddish brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white jacket, white shirt, white pants and white shoes.
