Sudbury police have charged a 28-year-old man after a stabbing in a wooded area off Leslie Street.
Just before 9 p.m. on Dec. 11, officers were dispatched to the area after receiving information that a man had been stabbed and required medical attention.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 28-year-old man who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedics.
But, around 9:10 p.m., a call came in reporting a second individual had been stabbed and was at an encampment in the area.
Officers attended the scene and located a 36-year-old man who had sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.
He was transported to hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedics and remains in critical condition.
“Based on the investigation,” said a GSPS press release, “it is believed that the 28-year-old man and the 36-year-old man were involved in an altercation, leading to the 28-year-old man stabbing the 36-year-old man numerous times.”
This is an isolated incident as the individuals involved are known to each other, said police.
The 28-year-old man has been charged with:
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The man was held in custody overnight and attended Bail Court Dec. 12 to answer to the charges.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
