On Thursday March 23, between 2 and 3 pm, a former floor cleaner at Giant Tiger on Lasalle Blvd. phoned the store demanding money or else he would rob it.
In a subsequent call, the man made verbal threats of violence towards one of the store's employees.
As a result of their investigation into this matter, police have arrested a Sudbury man, 29, and charged him with extortion and uttering threats. He is scheduled to appear in court March 28.
