Manitoulin OPP investigated nearly 30 domestic incidents last month

Members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the OPP investigated 28 domestic-related incidents in the month of March, nine of which resulted in someone being charged with a criminal offence.

Some of the charges include:

  • Assault - five counts
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order 
  • Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking
  • Threats to cause damage to property - two counts
  • Threats to cause death or serious bodily harm - two counts
  • Criminal harassment 

The OPP will not release names in order to protect the identity of the victims.

"Victims of domestic assaults are not alone. If you have been assaulted by an intimate partner or know someone that has, there are local resources here to help," said the OPP in a news release.
