Updated Jan. 13 at 11:06 a.m.: Greater Sudbury Police have advised the fatal crash on MR 55 this morning claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman.
Police will not be releasing her name out of respect for her family. GSPS extended condolences to the woman's loved ones.
MR 55 is now reopened. The investigation continues.

Greater Sudbury Police say a pedestrian was killed in a collision on Municipal Road 55 in Walden early Monday morning.
The collision occurred in the area of Simon Lake Road by Gorman Street shortly after 5 a.m. Jan. 13.
The driver of the motor vehicle involved in the collision remained on scene.
Upon arrival, Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services and Greater Sudbury Police Services began life-saving measures on the pedestrian, who had been struck by the vehicle on the roadway.
Municipal Road 55 remains closed in both directions at Simon Lake Road and Gorman Street. There’s currently no estimate as to when the roadway will reopen.
“We are asking the public to avoid the area and find alternative routes of travel,” said police.
Greater Sudbury Police’s Traffic Management Unit will be investigating the collision.
