Two people who allegedly broke into two different businesses in Greater Sudbury have been arrested and charged with breaking and entering.

Greater Sudbury Police received a call just after 7:15 a.m. on Oct. from a business owner on Churchill Avenue after it was discovered the business had been broken into overnight.

A window of the business had been smashed, and when the owner entered the business, it was obvious that the business had been ransacked.

Various items had been taken including cigarettes, drinks, electronics, scratch tickets and money from the cash register totalling approximately $10,000.

Officers arrived on scene and initiated an investigation. A review of video surveillance footage from the incident determined that a man and a woman were responsible for the break and enter.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 6, police received an alarm call from a local business on Elm Street. Officers arrived on scene a short time later and found the glass front door of the business had been broken by what appeared to be a rock.

Officers retrieved and reviewed video surveillance from the business and determined that a man and a woman were responsible for the break and enter.

Detectives from the Break Enter and Robbery Unit were able to identify the individuals as being responsible for both of the incidents.

Shortly before 9:40 a.m. on Nov. 11, patrol officers located both individuals walking down Notre Dame Avenue. The man and woman were arrested without incident.

The 26-year-old man and the 40-year-old woman were charged with two counts of break and enter, possession of stolen property and trafficking in stolen property.

Both individuals were released on an undertaking with a court date of Feb. 3, 2021.
