One man is facing an attempted murder and other charges following an incident on Dublin Street on Saturday.

In a news release, Greater Sudbury Police say they responded to a call Saturday night at 8:30 on McLean Street regarding a man who had suffered knife wounds and was now inside a taxi stopped on the side of the road.

“The 43-year-old male victim suffered a significant head wound and a puncture to the stomach, but he was able to inform police who was responsible for the attack,” the release said.

“The victim was transported to Health Sciences North where he is being treated for his wounds. He is expected to make a full recovery.”

Police arrested a man, 45, in a residence on Dublin Street where the attack occurred without incident.

“Criminal investigators and forensic officers are continuing the investigation,” the release said. “The accused male is being held in custody and will appear for a bail hearing later (Sunday) morning.”

He is being charged with: one count of attempted murder; one count of weapon dangerous; and, two counts of breach of probation.

“There was no danger to the general public, as the victim and the offender are known to each other and the incident occurred within a residence,” the release said.
