While rumours are swirling about exactly what happened, Greater Sudbury Police have ruled out foul play in the deaths of a man and woman at a Sudbury hotel this past weekend.

Foul play was also ruled out in the death of another Sudbury man who was found dead inside his apartment following a fire in his Flour Mill apartment Saturday.

Post-mortems were conducted on the man and woman found inside the Canadiana Hotel on Lorne Street Sunday. Police won't reveal the cause of death, but foul play has been ruled out.

Wilfred Dupuis, 42, was pulled from his Nolin Street apartment around 3:30 am Saturday and pronounced dead. The cause of death has been determined to be smoke inhalation. A member of the Greater Sudbury Fire Department said it's been determined Dupuis was frying chicken wings on top of his stove when a pan of grease caught fire.

Around 1:30 pm Sunday, Greater Sudbury Police were called to the hotel after a chambermaid opened the door and reported finding an adult male and female, both naked, inside the same hotel room.

Police believe the man was in his late 50's and the woman was in her late 30's.

Staff Sgt. David Linney said the autopsies conducted Monday indicate neither the man or woman died as a result of any criminal activity.

There was no trauma to the bodies and the official cause of death hasn't yet been determined, said Linney.

Police are waiting for toxicology results from the Northern Regional Forensic Laboratory in Sault Ste. Marie, said Linney.

Linney did not want to confirm if the man or woman were from this area and said the families of both deceased have been notified.
