Driving around with a missing front licence plate led to drug charges for two people back in November.
Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police said at around 2 p.m. that day, an officer on patrol saw a vehicle driving on Highway 17 with no front licence plate.
“A traffic stop was conducted and there were two occupants in the vehicle,” OPP said. “A check of the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) revealed that the licence plate on the rear of the vehicle was not authorized for that vehicle. Further investigation led to the driver and passenger being arrested.”
Police also seized more than 50g of suspected cocaine from the vehicle (street value of about $5,000) as well as drug paraphernalia.
The 22-year-old driver, an Espanola resident, is charged with:

The 21-year-old passenger, of no fixed address, was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance - cocaine.
