A commercial vehicle driver from Woodstock found himself arrested after a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Greater Sudbury on Dec. 11.
The trucker was pulled over at around 3:05 p.m. that day by Ontario Provincial Police in Sudbury after being clocked at 30 km/h over the posted limit.
Not only was the driver speeding, OPP allege, but also in breach of a court order. What’s more, the OPP reports discovering the man’s truck was not equipped with a working speed-limiting system.
The 38-year-old driver is charged with:
- Failure to comply with release order
- Speeding 1 - 49 Km/h over posted limit
- Drive commercial motor vehicle not equipped with working speed-limiting system
The man was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Feb. 5, 2025. The CMV was towed at the expense of the business owner.
The OPP have also charged the registered business that operated the CMV was also charged with operating a CMV not equipped with a working speed-limiting system and for operating a CMV with a licence plate not authorized for both the semi-truck and trailer.
