Nova Scotia woman drives into ditch near French River

A 26-year-old woman from Dartmouth, NS is facing a number of charges after driving her car off the road on Highway 69.

On July 19 at around 5:30 p.m., members from the Sudbury OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 69, near Highway 607 in French River.

Investigation revealed that a northbound vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch on the east side of the roadway. It was also determined that the uninjured woman had consumed alcohol.

As a result a 26-year-old woman from Nova Scotia was charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol
  • Driving With More Than 80mg. of alcohol in blood
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Sept. 6 to answer to her charges. Her driver's license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle she was driving was impounded for seven days.

"The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving," said an OPP news release.

"Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving impaired is urged to call police by dialing 911 immediately."
