Greater Sudbury is under a winter storm warning, and the snow has now started to fall (we're expecting 15 to 25 centimetres in total).

“Let's all be proactive and avoid road collisions!” said Greater Sudbury Police Service on Twitter.

“#DriveSlow and allow extra space between yourself & other vehicles. Steer gently on curves and in slippery conditions.

“Remove all snow from your vehicle's hood, roof, windows and lights.”

Environment Canada, which says there will be heavy snow and blowing snow, suggests postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance, Environment Canada suggests.
