Numerous weapons charges against man breaching release order

A 38-year-old man faces weapons charges after police found him in possession of a BB gun with a makeshift barrel extender capable of holding a shotgun shell.

That’s not all officers found, said Greater Sudbury Police in a news release. They also found a large flip knife and a set of composite knuckles. He also had what police suspect was crack cocaine.

He was arrested on Sept. 3 for breaching release orders, said police. He was wanted on a warrant. When officers tried to approach him, he tried to flee, but was caught a short distance away.

The man is charged with four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition, careless use of a firearm, weapon, ammunition, possession of a firearm/weapon contrary to a probation order, possession of a Schedule 1 substance and failing to comply with a release order.

He attended bail court Sept. 4 to answer to the charges.
