Officer remains in hospital

A veteran Sudbury OPP officer remains in hospital recovering from serious injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle while helping investigate a previous accident over the weekend. OPP Const. Lucie Sirois is a 14-year OPP veteran.
A veteran Sudbury OPP officer remains in hospital recovering from serious injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle while helping investigate a previous accident over the weekend.

OPP Const. Lucie Sirois is a 14-year OPP veteran. She remains in hospital in the special care unit with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Officers are continuing to investigate two separate motor vehicle collisions that occurred on Highway 17,west of the Long Lake Road intersection this past Saturday.

The first collision, which occurred around 6 pm, involved two vehicles and blocked the roadway. Both drivers in this collision were transported to hospital in Sudbury. One driver was released from local hospital with minor injuries, while the second was transported to Toronto with serious injuries.

Police are continuing their investigation and believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

Around 8:20 pm, a second incident occurred while officers were still at the scene investigating the first collision.

Sirois,was taken to hospital and treated for serious injuries. The driver of the motor vehicle who hit the officer did not receive any injuries.
