Onaping man accused of holding person hostage in vehicle in 'high-risk incident'

A 35-year-old Onaping man who allegedly held another person hostage in a vehicle was arrested by the North Bay OPP Tuesday.

On March 17, at around 2:25 p.m., members of the North Bay OPP responded to what they described as a “high-risk” incident where a person was being held against their will in a vehicle travelling on Highway 11 in North Bay. 

The vehicle and occupants were located at the Trout Lake Road intersection of the Highway 11/17 bypass, where officers made the arrest.

As a result, a 35-year-old man from Onaping was charged with:

  • Uttering Threats - cause death or bodily harm
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Transportation Fraud
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused is being held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 18.
