After spotting his car at the intersection of Falconbridge Road and the Kingsway last week, Greater Sudbury Police were able to arrest a wanted man without incident — and recover more than $30,000 in stolen property at the same time.

In a news release Monday, police said officers recognized the car belonging to the 39-year-old suspect just before 3:30 a.m. on June 14. He was wanted for a range of crimes, including break and enter, theft and theft of motor vehicle and numerous bail violations.

“The officers followed the vehicle into the parking lot of a gas station on Falconbridge Road where a man exited the passenger side of the vehicle and began to walk towards the convenience store,” the news release said. “The officers exited their cruiser, identified themselves and placed the man under arrest without incident.”

Charges he now faces include: break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of stolen property worth more than $5,000, and two counts of theft over $5,000.

The suspect was in bail court Friday to answer to the charges, the release said.

“Members of the break enter and robbery unit (BEAR) were able to recover over $30,000 worth of stolen items including a jeep, an enclosed trailer, a snowmobile and other various items,” the release said.

“Great work by our uniform patrol officers for recognizing the vehicle and for safely affecting the arrest of this man and by our BEAR unit for their ongoing work identifying and investigating high-risk offenders involved in commercial and residential break and enters.”
