The Greater Sudbury Police Service is investigating a homicide that occurred on Bloor Street in Sudbury Donovan neighbourhood late this afternoon.

One person is in police custody and there is no further concern for public safety, police say.

Criminal investigations officers, the forensics team and uniform police were on scene in the early evening gathering evidence, conducting interviews and canvassing the neighbourhood.

Police cordoned off a home located at 252 Bloor Street while they investigated the crime Tuesday evening.

A woman seated on the steps of the home next to 252 Bloor — who identified herself only as Shelley – claimed a 19-year-old man had been stabbed by a 17-year-old woman, possibly over a drug deal.

"This (252 Bloor) used to be a major crack house," she said.

Despite attempts, NorthernLife.ca could not corroborate the woman's statements with police.

Greater Sudbury Police Service have not yet returned messages left by NorthernLife.ca.

Further information will follow as it becomes available.
