One wrist broken, two cars destroyed in Kingsway collision

Nine passengers involved in the incident

A total of nine passengers were involved in a two-car collision that occurred on the corner of Levesque Street and the Kingsway around 2:10 p.m. Saturday.

Although little is known about the accident at this time, the impact did cause one of the two vehicles to roll over onto its roof.

Despite extensive damage to both vehicles, the only injury associated with the accident was the broken wrist of one passenger.

Daryl Adams, staff sgt. with the Greater Sudbury Police Service, said seven police officers responded to the call immediately, followed by emergency crews shortly thereafter.

The incident is being investigated by police's traffic management unit, who Adams said would be speaking to witnesses in the area, witnesses in both vehicles, pulling video footage from the surrounding area and checking the GPS computer information in each vehicle to determine the cause of the crash.

While the cause of the accident is still unknown, Adams would like to remind motorists that safety is paramount and operating on highways is a privilege.

"Always be aware of your surroundings and do not drive distracted, ever," said Adams. "Plan ahead and avoid being in a rush."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.
