OPP charge Toronto driver with impaired in Sturgeon Falls

A 40-year-old Toronto driver is facing impaired driving charges after being pulled over on Highway 17 in Sturgeon Falls on June 8.

Nipissing West OPP report receiving a traffic complaint that day at around 3:25 p.m. about a vehicle swerving “all over the road” on Highway 17 near Thibeault Road in Sturgeon Falls.

Officers quickly located the vehicle and pulled it over. 

“Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the individual had been consuming alcohol and was subsequently arrested,” OPP report.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Toronto man has been charged with operation while impaired and having a blood-alcohol concentration higher than 80 mg. 

The man was released by way of an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 6 in West Nipissing.

He was also issued a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

OPP said this is the 28th driver charged for impaired driving by the Nipissing West Detachment in 2020.
