The passenger of a southbound vehicle on Highway 69 had their foot severed when the vehicle crashed into a guard rail near French River on Saturday.

The crash caused the guard rail to go through the vehicle, said the Ontario Provincial Police in a tweet.

The passenger was a 52-year-old woman.

A passenger in the back, a 27-year-old man, suffered fractured ankles.**

The driver has been charged with careless driving, said the OPP.
