The passenger of a southbound vehicle on Highway 69 had their foot severed when the vehicle crashed into a guard rail near French River on Saturday.
The crash caused the guard rail to go through the vehicle, said the Ontario Provincial Police in a tweet.
The passenger was a 52-year-old woman.
A passenger in the back, a 27-year-old man, suffered fractured ankles.**
The driver has been charged with careless driving, said the OPP.
**An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the backseat passenger's age. That has been corrected.
