A 43-year-old from London, Ont., was charged this week after failing to remain at the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Hwy. 17 in Sudbury.
On Dec. 11 at 12:15 a.m., members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated two separate motor vehicle collisions at the same location on Highway 17, in Sudbury.
Police attended the scene and observed approximately three meters of guardrail damaged along the highway, leaving large pieces of debris on the highway. Two separate vehicles had struck the debris, causing damage to both of the vehicles.
The vehicle that collided with the guardrails failed to remain at the collision, but was later located parked at a truck stop with front end damage to the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, the London resident was charged with:
- Fail to maintain daily log, contrary to section 190(3) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
- Careless driving, contrary to section 130(1) of the HTA
- Fail to remain, contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the HTA
The accused was issued Provincial Summons and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Feb. 1, in Sudbury.
