OPP identify victim of Dec. 22 crash east of Long Lake Road

Steve Poulin, 26, of Sudbury was the person killed Dec. 22 in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17, the Ontario Provincial Police said Friday.

“The crash occurred at around 9 p.m., Dec. 22, just east of Long Lake Road, and involved the eastbound motorcycle crossing the centre line and colliding head-on with a westbound pick-up truck,” the OPP said in a news release. 

The driver of the pick-up truck was the lone occupant in the vehicle and was not injured.

“The Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and the North East Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Unit continue to investigate,” the release said. 

Highway 17 was closed for several hours that evening to ensure the safety of all emergency responders and to allow police to conduct their investigation. 

The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
