OPP investigations lead to charges linked to series of break and enters

Members from the Noëlville Detachment of the OPP and the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit were continuing their investigations into several break, enter and thefts which occurred in the areas of Killarney and the Municipality of French River.

On Sept. 3 at 1:50 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop of the suspects' vehicle, on Highway 64 in the Municipality of French River.

Officers arrested the male driver on an outstanding committal warrant and seized a number of drugs suspected to be methamphetamine along with numerous items such as electronics, clothing, purses and board games, which are believed to be stolen. 

Police also recovered a pellet pistol and a pellet rifle which were stolen in a recent break and enter.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 51-year-old man from Noëlville, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance (four counts)
  • Drive While Under Suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Sept. 18.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 40-year-old woman from Noëlville, was charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Owner Permit Vehicle to be Driven - no insurance
  • Owner Surrender False Evidence of Insurance

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Oct. 9.
