East Algoma OPP detachment recently re-opened an investigation into a historical sexual assault that occurred between Jan. 1, 1985 and Dec. 2, 2014.
As a result of the investigation, 60-year-old Kim Shanahan previously from Blind River and now residing in Sault Ste. Marie, was charged with:
- Sexual Interference (X5), contrary to section 151 of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 years of age (X5), contrary to section 271 of the CC
- Invitation of Sexual Touching Under 16 years of age, contrary to section 152 of the CC
- Sexual Assault (X3), contrary to section 246.1 of the CC
- Sexual Assault, contrary to section 271 of the CC
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Feb. 14, 2019.
