OPP nab two Hwy. 69 drivers who were going 50 km/h over speed limit

Greater Sudbury OPP continue to catch motorists driving at excessive speeds.

Two people were charged in less than week in early November for driving more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.

On Nov. 3 at around 6 p.m. Sudbury OPP members conducted a speed investigation on Highway 69 in Greater Sudbury when they spotted a motorist driving more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 27-year-old man from Sudbury was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle - Excessive Speed.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Dec. 17. The rental vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence was suspended for seven days. 

On Nov. 7 at approximately 3:10 a.m., Sudbury OPP  were once again conducting a speed investigation on Highway 69 in Greater Sudbury when they observed a motorist traveling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

As a result of the investigation the driver, a 19-year-old man from the Timiskaming District was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle - Excessive Speed.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Jan. 14. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and his driver's licence was suspended for seven days.
