OPP officer hit by a car during accident investigation

The incident happened on Saturday (Jan. 11) around 8:20 pm. The officer was taken to St. JosephÂ?s Health Centre with serious injuries. Her name isnÂ?t being released until her family is notified.

A couple of hours earlier, police were called to the scene to investigate a two-vehicle accident blocking the highway. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the first vehicle in the collision was identified as Marcel Bourgouin of Sudbury. He was later transported to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto with serious injuries.

The second driver, Howard Armstrong, also of Sudbury, received minor injuries and was treated and released from St. JosephÂ?s Health Centre.

Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the accident.
