The OPP across the province will blitz the highways over the entire Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend to bring road safety to the forefront. Officers will be targeting impaired driving, ensuring seatbelt use and at risk road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. Last year in the Northeast Region, 61 people lost their lives and more than 1,300 were injured in traffic collisions.
