OPP received three complaints about same Hwy. 17 impaired driving suspect

A 58-year-old St. Charles man is facing impaired driving related offences after the OPP received three separate complaints about him driving erratically on Hwy. 17.

Officers responded to the first complaint of an erratic driver in the Warren area at around 3:40 p.m. June 29. While responding, the OPP received another two complaints about the same driver.

The vehicle was located and stopped on Hwy. 17 at Highway at Drive-In Road, west of Sturgeon Falls, in the Municipality of West Nipissing.   

Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the individual had been consuming alcohol, and he was subsequently arrested.  

The suspect was charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
He was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Sept. 3 in West Nipissing.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.  

This charge marks the 32nd driver charged under Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in the Nipissing West Detachment area in 2020.
