A 41-year-old M'Chigeeng man is dead following a report of a drowning on Whitefish Lake in M'Chigeeng First Nation on the Manitoulin Island, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

A 41-year-old M'Chigeeng man is dead following a report of a drowning on Whitefish Lake in M'Chigeeng First Nation on the Manitoulin Island, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

The body of Ian McCauley, 41, of M’Chigeeng was recovered July 23 following a search of the waters by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), a helicopter from the OPP Aviation Services, and an OPP marine unit.

The coroner has ordered a post mortem examination.

The OPP North East Region Crime Unit and the UCCM Police Crime Unit are assisting with the investigation.
