Two Markham men were arrested Sept. 20 in connection to a marijuana grow op in the community of Sables-Spanish Rivers Township.

The arrests and charges stem from an OPP investigation into a large scale outdoor marihuana growing operation.

A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant was executed at a property, and resulted in the seizure of 3,100 marijuana plants in various stages of growth.

The estimated street value of the plants is about $3.1 million.

A 36-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, both from Markham, were found at the grow op site. They have been charged with production of marijuana and possession a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

They've been released from custody pending a Nov. 7 court date in Espanola.

The investigation into the grow operation continues.
