Three people from Espanola were charged on Aug. 19 after the OPP executed a search warrant at a home on Centre Street in the community.
Officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be Fentanyl, Cocaine, Crack Cocaine and Hydromorphone pills, along with prohibited weapons, drug paraphernalia and more than $700 in Canadian currency. The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $54,870.
As a result of the investigation, three people were arrested and charged:
A 39-year-old woman from Espanola was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine (two counts)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Other Drugs (three counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon (four counts)
- Failure to Comply with a Release Order - Other than to attend court
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possess Unmarked Cigarettes
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice - Bail Court in Sudbury, on Aug. 24.
A 45-year-old man from Espanola was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Opiod (other than heroin) - two counts
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon (two counts)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Other Drugs (two counts)
- Failure to Comply with Release Order - Other than to attend court
- Possess Unmarked Cigarettes
A 37-year-old man from Espanola was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
Both accused were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 5 in Espanola.
