The Sudbury OPP are increasing their patrols at the construction zone in Coniston located on Highway 17 near the water treatment plant.
According to an OPP news release, motorists continue to exceed the posted speed limit of 70km/h in the area. The fines for speeding in a construction zone when workers are present is double the amount than regular speeding offences.
"The OPP would like to remind motorists that road safety is everyone's responsibility," said Sudbury OPP in a news release. "The speed is reduced at this location for a very important reason, the safety of the workers present and the safety of motorists required to stop in this area."
