OPP: Teen with ‘cannabis readily available’ was driving aggressively on Regent St.

A 17-year-old Sudbury youth is facing several charges after being stopped while driving aggressively on Regent Street May 27.

The Nipissing West OPP say at 6:38 p.m. that evening they stopped the youth’s vehicle, which was being driven aggressively in and out of traffic.

Upon stopping the vehicle, police observed drugs suspected to be cannabis readily available to the driver. The drugs were seized.

The teen was charged with:

  • Careless driving, contrary to section 130(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to section 12(1) of the Cannabis Control Act, 2017 (CCA)

The accused was released with two provincial offence notices (which carry fines).
