An 18-year-old from Ottawa is facing numerous charges following a home invasion on Frood Road on Monday.

Greater Sudbury Police officers were dispatched Feb. 3 to a residence on Frood Road after receiving a report that several people had forced their way into a residence and assaulted someone who lived there.

“Upon arrival, officers located a 30-year-old man who had sustained serious, life-threatening injuries,” GSPS said. “He was transported to the hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedics where he remains in critical condition.”

GSPS said a search of the area around Frood Road by police turned up a person matching the description of one of the alleged culprits provided by witnesses. The person was arrested and transported to police HQ.

“Upon searching the individual, officers located approximately 50 grams of what is believed to be Fentanyl and around $990 in cash,” the press release from GSPS states. “The estimated street value of the drugs is $1,000.”

GSPS believes at least one other person was involved in the home invasion. That person’s identity remains unknown.

“This incident is believed to be an isolated and targeted,” GSPS said.

The 18-year-old from Ottawa is charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA):

  • Attempt Murder
  • Weapons Dangerous
  • Possession of a Prohibited weapon
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance
