Overtime bar youth murder suspect arrested in Toronto

Youth is facing multiple charges, including first degree murder

A man was fatally shot at Overtime Sports Bar and Grill on Notre Dame Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. Friday.

The 16-year-old suspect believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting at Overtime Sports Bar in Sudbury April 21 was arrested by Toronto Police Service early Saturday morning.

Greater Sudbury Police said Toronto police officers arrested the youth at 7:35 a.m. April 29.

The youth has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • First-degree murder
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number

The youth appeared in court in Toronto today to answer to the charges and has since been remanded into custody.

GSPS cannot provide further particulars relating to the youth's identity.

Sudbury police also said images of the youth were released to the public on April 28, pursuant to a judge's order made under Section 110, subsection 4, of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. 

The authority to publish images of a young person ceases after five days or with the apprehension of the young person. 

Since an arrest has been made in this investigation, all information and images that have been published related to the identity of the young person must be removed immediately.
