A 42-year-old man found unconscious at the wheel of his vehicle in the Plaza 69 shopping centre parking lot on Jan. 5 faces impaired-driving-related charges, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Officers were called to the parking lot at about 1:50 p.m. after passersby found a man unconscious in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

EMS and police attended, and it was determined the passed-out man was not in need of medical assistance, and that he had been drinking. Police made a demand for a roadside screening test, which the man failed.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for further breath tests. He has been charged with care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired and over 80 mg.
