Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run collision, police appealing to public for information

Greater Sudbury Police are appealing to the public for information after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run collision yesterday evening.

Police say they responded to the collision at the intersection of Walford Road and Ramsey View Court at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday.

A light-coloured Dodge Ram pickup travelling westbound on Walford Road struck a female pedestrian at the intersection with Ramsey View Court.

A witness to the collision phoned 911 and rendered assistance to the victim.

The victim was transported to HSN, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The roadway remained closed for several hours while Greater Sudbury Police conducted a preliminary investigation.

The suspect vehicle is described as a light-coloured Dodge Ram pickup. The vehicle was last seen travelling westbound on Walford Rd towards Regent St. Investigators continue to canvass the area for video footage of the suspect vehicle. GSPS Traffic Management Unit continues its investigation into this fatal collision.

“Our condolences go out to the victim’s family,” said a press release from Greater Sudbury Police. “The victim’s identity is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.”
