Updated at 3:35 p.m. Oct. 13: A 42-year-old woman was taken to hospital after an early morning walk was interrupted today when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road.

The woman suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to Health Sciences North.

The accident happened just after 6 a.m. on Oct. 13 at the intersection of Lasalle Boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue. The woman was in the crosswalk when, police say, a vehicle failed to yield and struck her.

The driver has now been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

A pedestrian was sent to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle at the corner of Lasalle and Notre Dame early Friday morning.

According to a tweet by Greater Sudbury Police, the collision occurred at around 6:15 a.m., and involved a 42-year-old woman. No further details are available.
