Greater Sudbury Police Services are currently investigating a threat made to the city's animal shelter on Kari Road in Wahnapitae.

According to GSPS spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn, a city staff member contacted police shortly after 2 p.m. on Aug. 22.

"The shelter received a threat and a city staff member contacted the police," said Dunn. "It's in the early stages of the investigation and officers arrived at the shelter just after 3 p.m."

The City of Greater Sudbury tweeted that the shelter will not be accepting any visitors for the rest of the day, due to the security threat.
