Police lay four drunk driving charges over holiday weekend

After two consecutive weekends where police didnÂ?t file a single impaired driving charge, three people were charged with drunk driving, and a fourth with refusing to provide a breath sample, over the weekend.

Two others were given 12-hour suspensions and another person was charged with obstructing police and mischief.

A total of 16 charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act.

A total of 950 vehicles were checked.

The traffic management unit as well as uniform patrol officers will continue to target impaired driving within the City of Greater Sudbury throughout the holiday season and on a regular basis throughout 2004.
