Updated: Suspect armed with knife tried to enter New Sudbury home

No danger to the public, GSPS says, but suspect still at large

Updated at 1:03 p.m.: A man who tried to break into a home in New Sudbury armed with a knife is still on the loose.

Inspector John Somerset of the Greater Sudbury Police Service told Sudbury.com that around noon, the suspect tried to break into a residence in New Sudbury. There was someone home at the time of the attempted break-in, and the suspect fled on foot.

Again, there were no injuries reported. 

Somerset said the suspect is described as being between 20 and 30 years old with short black hair. He stands around 5-7 and is wearing a long white t-shirt and black shorts.

Police are still looking for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Greater Sudbury Police are on the scene of a weapons complaint in the Falconbridge Road/Lasalle Boulevard area of New Sudbury.

Little information is available at this time, but GSPS dispatch tweeted that there is no danger to the public and no injuries have been reported.

The suspect is described as standing 5-7 and wearing a long white t-shirt and black shorts.

The investigation is continuing.
