Updated: Police dog track proves unsuccessful, suspect remains at large

Police have concluded their dog track in the area of Lasalle Boulevard and Rideau Street. 

The suspect, who succeeded in stealing an undisclosed amount of money in the robbery, has yet to be located.

The individual is described as being a white man with a medium build, wearing a grey coat, dark hooded sweatshirt and black pants at the time. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.

Greater Sudbury Police have alerted the public to heavy police presence in the area of Lasalle Boulevard and Rideau Street in response to a convenience robbery in the area Saturday morning.

According to a tweet by police Saturday at 7:36 a.m. the suspect displayed an edged weapon and demanded money before fleeing on foot. 

Police are in the process of conducting a dog track.

Residents are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
