It took only 15 minutes for police officers to nab two teenagers who allegedly stole a vehicle from a West End home on Jan. 5, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.
The theft took place around 11:20 p.m. The vehicle's owner was working in the garage at the time. The owner contacted police, and a member of the K9 unit quickly located the vehicle near Lorne Street and waited for backup.
Once the vehicle was stopped, the two 16-year-old suspects were arrested and take into custody.
The passenger faces possession of stolen property and theft of motor vehicle charges. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant unrelated to the investigation and was held for a bail hearing.
The driver was likewise charged with possession of stolen property and theft of motor vehicle. He was also charged with a number of provincial offences relating to breaching his novice driver's licence conditions and having open liquor in the motor vehicle.
He was released to his parent to answer to the charges in the future.
