Police release images of alleged shooter in Lansdowne St. murder

They have also arrested three more people for accessory after the fact to murder

Greater Sudbury Police have released images (see above) of the man believed to be responsible for the murder of a 21-year-year-old man on Lansdowne Street in Sudbury April 6.

Anyone with information related to the identity and whereabouts of the individual is asked to contact police immediately at 705-675-9171, ext. 2320. This extension is a dedicated tip line for the active and ongoing murder investigation.

Police have also arrested three more people for accessory after the fact to murder in relation to this case.

Through the investigation, it is believed that four individuals residing in Greater Sudbury knowingly assisted in hiding the truck containing the body of the deceased in the garage on Lansdowne Street.

As a result of the investigation, officers have arrested and charged 23-year-old Jay Fournier, 22-year-old Tori Toulouse and 25-year-old, Hailey Burnham with accessory after the fact to murder.

Fournier and Burnham will appear in bail court April 11 to answer to the charge.

Toulouse appeared in bail court April 10 to answer to the charge and has since been remanded into custody through the judicial process.

All these individuals, including Monica Shawanda (who was arrested for accessory after the fact to murder on April 7) are known to frequent the address on Lansdowne Street where the body was located.

It is believed that this was a targeted attack.

A release detailing the weekend homicide states that shortly before 3:25 p.m. on April 6, officers were dispatched to an address on Lansdowne Street for a suspicious vehicle. “Information provided was that a Black 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 was found in a garage and there appeared to be an unresponsive man inside," said the release.

Those attending the scene included Greater Sudbury Fire Services, Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services and the police.

As firefighters gained entry to the vehicle, paramedics confirmed the man was dead. It was also discovered the man had sustained a gunshot wound.

A post-mortem was conducted April 8, “and it has been confirmed that the deceased died of multiple gunshot wounds,” said police.

The deceased has been identified as a 21-year old man from Greater Sudbury. His name will not be released out of respect for the family’s wishes, states an April 8 release from GSPS. “Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.”

Shawanda is believed to be the “driver at the time of the incident and that she then hid the vehicle in the garage on Lansdowne Street where it and the deceased were later located,” said police.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact police at (705)675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477.
