Police say woman killed in Hwy. 69 crash was driving stolen vehicle

Provincial police have identified the victim of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 69 just after midnight on Feb. 8.

Tammy Ashawasega, 47, from Parry Sound, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Ontario Provincial Police.

OPP said the vehicle she was driving southbound on Highway 69 collided with a northbound commercial motor vehicle just north of Estaire Road, killing Ashawasega. The driver of the commercial motor vehicle was not injured.

Police said the 47-year-old was driving a stolen SUV at the time of the crash.

The Nipissing West OPP said they were called out to the scene at 12:09 a.m. this morning. 

The collision investigation is on-going and further information will be released as it becomes available.
