Update: Police end unsuccessful search for missing woman

Officers are clearing out of the area of Guenette Drive and Radar Road, ending the ground and aerial searches, though police still asking public to provide info

Updated May 24 at 2:45 p.m.: Greater Sudbury Police are ending the ground and aerial search for a missing 37-year-old woman. The area where she was last scene has been cleared without finding her.

Police have been searching an area around Radar Road and Guenette Drive in Hanmer since around 7:30 p.m. on May 23. Besides ATVs and foot, the Ontario Provincial Police helicopter was used in the search, as was a GSPS drone. 

Greater Sudbury Police Service officers also began a door-to-door canvas of several of the rural homes along Radar Road, to see if any neighbours or residents might have seen the missing woman.

Members of the GSPS tactical team were involved in the search, using regular road vehicles and all-terrain vehicles. 

Kyla (last name not provided) remains missing at this time. Police continue to request the public's assistance in locating her. Anyone with information is asked to contact GSPS at 705-975-6171

Updated May 24 at 11:42 a.m.: Greater Sudbury Police continue their search for a missing 37-year-old woman in the Hanmer area.

Police have set up a command post at a home at the corner of Radar Road and Guenette Drive, with several trucks and ATVs to be used for ground searching. 

The Ontario Provincial Police have also brought in a helicopter to assist in the search. GSPS is also using a drone to search the area from the air.

Greater Sudbury Police are continuing a search for a missing woman that began yesterday evening.

Just after 7 p.m. last night, GSPS said officers were in the area of Radar Road and Guenette Drive in Hanmer searching for the woman as there was concern for her well-being.

That search seemed to continue through the night, as police tweeted another update at around 4:30 a.m. today that they were continuing to look for her.

Police provided only a first name for the missing woman, Kyla, age 37. She is described as standing 5-5 and weighing approximately 120 lbs. She has blond hair and was wearing a grey sweater and jean shorts when she was last seen.
