Police trying to locate suspect in Memorial Park stabbing

Victim, 34, was seriously injured, suspect fled the scene on foot

The man believed to be involved in a stabbing in Memorial Park on July 1 is described being white, standing between 6-0 and 6-2, with a slim build. He was wearing a grey zip-up jacket and baseball cap at the time of the incident.

Greater Sudbury Police are seeking the public’s help to locate a man they believe was involved in a stabbing in Memorial Park on July 1.

At around 2:40 p.m. that day, officers were dispatched to the park after receiving a report of a stabbing. 

“Information provided was that a man had stabbed another man and fled the scene on foot,” police said today.

On the scene, officers located a man in Memorial Park with what was believed to be a stab wound to his arm. The 34-year-old man was transported to hospital by paramedics with a serious but non-life threatening injury.

Additional information provided to police was that the two men were involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot of the Tim Horton’s on Cedar Street shortly before the stabbing occurred in Memorial Park. 

“This is believed to be a targeted and isolated incident,” police said.

The man is described as being white, standing between 6-0 and 6-2, with a slim build and was wearing a grey zip-up jacket and baseball cap at the time of the incident (see image).
